Trick or Trace is a $7.99 augmented-reality guide that pins any uploaded design to a moving face and leads Halloween painters through it one zone at a time.
People with a strong costume idea often lack the brush control and facial anatomy knowledge needed to reproduce it. The gap is most visible at Halloween, when the result needs to be recognisable that evening. A poor attempt can spoil the costume or push someone back towards a simpler look they have worn before. Parents, friends and partners inherit the same pressure when somebody else asks them to do the painting.
They currently copy a reference beside the mirror, pause and restart a video, hold a flat stencil against curved skin, simplify the design or pay somebody with experience. Those actions compete with wet paint, limited time and a face that talks, blinks and moves. Beginners need a guide that preserves the design's proportions on the actual face while leaving both hands free to paint.
6/10: A disappointing face rarely ruins more than one event, so the stakes are modest. The deadline is real, the skill gap is visible and the burden lands on both the person wearing the costume and whoever agreed to paint it.
Trick or Trace turns a phone into a movable face-painting stencil for beginners. It guides someone painting their own face with the front camera and someone painting another person with the back camera.
